Strategy Mapping using Wardley Maps
Accelerated course to learn Wardley Mapping and use maps in your Strategy
Service Description
Despite 20 years of Agile and very substantial investments in Agile/Digital transformation efforts, the field of strategy has not fundamentally changed. It is still organised by a select few, sometimes with the support of consultants, and it is then a scramble to execute. Unless strategy can flex and adapt to emerging trends, organisations' lack of agility is no surprise. To successfully realise the ambition of modernisation, organisations need to reset their approach to strategy. It is just what we offer, with new techniques, such as Wardley Maps, progressing to a distributed, collaborative, and emergent approach to strategy, which we call the Continuous Strategy Operating Model. This training can run over two days on-site, multiple sessions virtually, or as a continuous cohort alongside services such as the Continuous Strategy Operating Model. Training Outcomes: - Understand the need to reframe their approach to strategy and how Wardley Maps offer a modern framework to this effect, - Be comfortable creating initial Wardley Maps and interpreting Wardley Maps, - Have a working awareness of the base principles of movement, inertia, climate and diffusion, - Have a view of the practical application of Wardley Maps in strategy, change, and organisation design, - Have an awareness of the broader context of maps for follow-up masterclass training Training Coverage: - Case for change in strategy introduced through Digital challenges and need for agility, - Introduction to the Wardley Map Strategy Cycle - Doing your first maps - Practice, practice, practice - Movement, climate, inertia, diffusion - Application in change strategy and value stream alignment - Overview of the broader framework (Doctrine, Gameplay, PST) - follow on masterclasses - Overview of going from strategy to deployment - follow-on masterclasses Training Approach: The training maximises back-of-the-room training concepts. Research has established that people learn best through social interaction and practice. For this reason, the training sessions use exercises in small breakout groups. Please enquire to commission an in-house cohort. If you are interested in attending a public cohort, please see the availability of public cohorts in our Leadership Development section.
Cancellation Policy
This booking is to establish the basis for the engagement of interest. During this initial meeting, we will discuss your needs and the suitability of the engagement. We will then produce a quote to proceed with the engagement. We will also schedule the engagement based on availability. This is especially important for multi-day engagements (e.g., strategy off-site, change increment design, etc.) or those that must be on a specific day (e.g., presentations). Best to talk early to avoid disappointment.
